Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Margin app. By using it, you agree to them.
What Margin is
Margin is a journal. You write one line a day and record how the day felt. With a subscription, it can generate a short written reflection on a month of your entries.
Margin is not a health service. The monthly reflection is generated automatically from the words you wrote. It is not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are struggling, please talk to someone you trust or contact a doctor or a local support service. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number.
Your content is yours
Everything you write in Margin belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to use it beyond what is technically required to generate a reflection you have explicitly asked for. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is sent where.
Because your journal is stored on your device and we hold no copy, you are responsible for keeping your own backups. Use Export in Settings before changing or resetting a phone. If you delete the app or lose the device, we cannot recover anything for you.
Subscriptions
- Margin’s journal is free and stays free. A subscription unlocks one thing: the monthly reflection.
- Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple or Google account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us.
- A reflection can be generated once per calendar month.
Fair use
Please do not attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the app or the service behind it, and do not use Margin for anything unlawful.
Availability
Margin is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and the reflection feature depends on a third-party service that may occasionally be unavailable. Features may change or be withdrawn over time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The current version will always be posted here with its effective date, and continuing to use the app means accepting the revised terms.
